The session

Sit. Rise. Lower. The knee stays bent.

The exercise is a seated heel raise. You rise onto the toes, then lower the heel slowly. Voimeli shows the calf getting shorter on the way up and longer on the way down.

Calf raise screen: the seated leg with the thigh and shin sensors labelled, and the Sit, Rise, Hold, Lower, Rest steps.

Five steps

One session.Five steps, in order.

The same five steps every time, so the summary means the same thing every time.

Raw sensor streams stay on the phone. Only the summary leaves it. Summaries are stored in the EU.

  1. Step 1

    Join your clinic.

Scan the QR code from your physiotherapist, or type the 8-character code. You get a code such as P-017. Your name is not on the summary.

  2. Step 2

    Place the sensors.

Two motion sensors, on the shin and the foot. One muscle sensor on the back of the calf. The phone can check the position with the camera. The picture is not kept.

  3. Step 3

    Measure the other leg.

Three short holds on the other calf set today’s reference. Every later percentage is against your own other leg.

  4. Step 4

    Do the set.

The screen shows the rise, the calf, and a count when a rep meets the target. You can do the plain session, or one of four short games. The games use the same sensors and the same targets.

  5. Step 5

    Score pain.

From 0 to 10, after you finish. The summary syncs for your clinic: the exercise, the reps, the rise, the calf compared with your other leg, and the pain score.

The calf, rep by rep

What the sensors read. And what the muscles do.

The shin and foot sensors give the rise. The calf sensor gives the effort. Try a counted rep, a rep that stops short, and a rep where the heel drops.

An illustration of a seated calf raise. Lengths come from a standard adult leg model, not from your own leg.

History screen: best heel rise for each calf raise session, against a 30 degree target.

Targets

The target is yours.Your physio sets it.

How many reps, how high the heel should rise, and how long the lower should take come from your physiotherapist. Voimeli shows those targets. It does not change them, and it does not decide whether a movement is right for you.
